The City to Surf is Perth's classic point-to-point problem: the run starts on St Georges Terrace and finishes 12 km away at City Beach Oval, which means anyone who drives to the start finishes the race a suburb-and-a-half from their car — cold, tired and in a queue of thousands thinking the same thing.
